Choosing Your Perfect Wedding Venue

Weddings are a big deal for many people. There is so much to do and plan for a wedding, it can be overwhelming! I have been asked by many couples who are getting married what they need to consider before making their final decision on the location of their wedding. Here are some tips to help you choose your perfect venue:

1. Location – This may seem obvious but it’s important to find a location that is central to where everyone lives. It will make your life easier if you don’t have to drive long distances for each wedding function. If you live in an apartment complex, check out the locations of the other weddings that take place there. Most apartments have a small common area that is used for all events. The common area can be a great place to hold your reception as well as a good place to have your rehearsal dinner.

2. Venue Size – How many guests will be attending your wedding? If you are having a large wedding (over 500 guests) then you will want to look at venues that can accommodate that many people. A smaller wedding can still be held at a venue with more than enough room for the number of guests you are planning to have. Look at the size of the facility as well as how many tables it has. You don’t want to book a facility that only has one or two tables for a large wedding.

3. Parking – Do you have enough parking space for your guests? Parking is always a concern for most people. Be sure to check out the parking situation of the venue you are considering. Is there enough parking? If not, are there spaces available nearby that can be used for overflow parking?

4. Food and Beverage – What type of food and beverage options does the venue offer? Does the venue offer full service catering? Some venues only provide basic food and beverage items. Make sure to ask questions about the menu options and whether or not there is a minimum charge. You also want to make sure that the venue you choose provides the right amount of seating and tables for the number of guests you expect to have.

5. Price – The price is one of the biggest considerations when choosing a venue. You want to make sure you are paying a reasonable price. You can get a feel for the price by asking for a quote from the venue you are considering. Also be sure to check the reviews for the venue online. This is a great way to see what others think of the venue. You can also find out if any of your friends or family members have been to the venue.

There are many things to consider when choosing a wedding venue. Take your time and do your research. You will find a perfect venue for your wedding.
