PICKING A WEDDING VENUE IN CALGARY | Wedding Planning Part 1

hello and welcome i'm in the car but i'm not
driving i'm in the garage so today is kind of day   one of our wedding planning extravaganza you're
going to look at venues this weekend we have four   venues to look at and they are all golf courses
and then we have one non-golf course one in two   weeks but i don't know if we will even go
see that one because we might just pick one   of these ones but basically we just looked at
all the like pricing and everything and yeah okay so it is day three of looking at venues but
this is our fifth venue so we did two on one day   and two on another day then we're doing one today
and one tomorrow so all together we will have   looked at six venues honestly we're like kind
of overwhelmed mainly because we have liked all   of the venues i guess we thought that we would
look at some and be like oh this one's not good   but we've kind of liked all of them
so it's going to kind of come down to   us actually figuring out logistics we've made
so many lists and tried to crunch the numbers   on exactly how much it's going to cost
if we have this many people and just a   lot obviously like we have our rings but other
than that we haven't bought anything and today   i bought this little sign it was five dollars um
i bought it off of somebody who just had a wedding   but it says my humans are getting married i think
it's designed for a dog because it's like huge   like i could literally wear this um but i'm gonna
use it for our cats and maybe just set it up to   take a picture i want to somehow incorporate it
in our engagement photos with our cats so yeah   that's what i bought today and yeah so kind
of overwhelmed and we need to pick like asap   because a lot of the places we've kind of it's
been like a couple weeks of trying to decide   what to do so it's the middle of may and a lot
of people because of the restrictions here a lot   of people have to cancel their weddings and
so they're rebooking for 2022 so we kind of   need to figure out a venue asap get booked but we
have one more tomorrow i haven't really taken any   footage at the venues just because i don't want
to film the people showing us around and some   of the venues they don't want you to film but the
one we went to so last time we went to four golf   courses and then tomorrow is also a golf course
the one we went to today was kind of different   and when we got there we were like no we're not
going to do this but when we started looking   around we actually really liked it it um there's
like a market and like playgrounds and a bunch   of stuff so it's seemed really busy but the part
with the wedding would be like up on the side so   yeah we just don't know what to do and this is
really the step the first step is doing the venue   all of the venues have our date as of right
now so we just need to pick and book it because   we want the specific date they all have
it so we just need to pick and book it   okay so we did end up choosing a venue finally
but first we chose a different venue actually and   we were totally ready to do it there and then when
we got the contract so before we paid the deposit   or anything we wanted to look through the contract
very carefully and a lot of venues require you   to use their catering so if you're doing it at a
golf course you can't hire like your own catering   so this particular place was not a golf course but
they did require us to use their catering and when   we look through the fine print of the catering um
part of the venue there was just like a lot of red   flags basically if we had under 125 guests they
were going to make us still pay for 125 meals and   we really don't know at this point how
many guests we're gonna have it just seemed   like not a great idea to have to either
pay for meals that no one's eating or   if you didn't have that many guests then you had
to pay an hourly rate for the staff that work so   you're paying like a couple thousand dollars for
the food and then you're also going to have to pay   for however many staff they think
they need it just it just didn't seem   great there was some other things in it just
most of the venues have a pretty standard   gratuity rate and taxes
everything's pretty standard   from venue to venue and this one just had
a lot of things that seemed a little bit   sketchy so we ended up not going with that venue
and going with a golf course that we had looked at   on the first weekend that we looked at venues so
it was the second day but the first weekend so we   have officially booked the venue that we want we
paid the deposit we signed the contract so it is   officially booked and we got the date that we want
which we really didn't know if we would because   basically any saturday in the summer is going to
be a popular date especially because of all the   bumped back weddings the people bumping from last
year from this year people who just decided to not   do it until 2022 because it seemed like the safest
choice so we feel very happy that we got our date   it's really big it has options if it rains it
has options if we want tons of guests not so many   guests so overall we're just like very happy and
excited so step one is complete we have our venue   and our date basically so we can officially
tell our family what the date is so the next   step i guess is we're gonna start looking at
photographers makeup get engagement photos   send to save the days all that fun stuff
will be in the next video but this was   step one of planning our wedding and
we have officially booked the venue   and paid the deposit so thank you so much for
watching i will have the next part of my wedding   planning in a couple weeks and i will make a
playlist of just all the wedding videos if you are   only interested in that you can check
that out thank you so much for watching
