The Arch Brick Facade – The Royal Wedding Venue | Part 1 | How to Make DIY Doll House

We have the outfits. We have the guests and the helpers. Not all. We still need to make some more. But now let's work on the location, the wedding venue. Back when I unboxed the Royal Wedding set, I said I was going to build the wedding venue that looks something like the background image in the packaging. So that's what we will do next.

We are going to build it mostly with cardboard papers, foam boards and some beads and fabric. I haven't figured out all of the materials yet, but I don't think we will use any unusual materials. I realize that this is a doll channel without doll houses. I always wanted to build the castles and rooms and such, but I never got around to it. We are going to do more of that as we go forward.

We have to start from somewhere so let's start with Mal and Ben's wedding venue. Originally, I thought this location was completely a new location, but more I look at the image now, I think this is the same place where everyone danced at the end of Descendants 3. If you climb up the staircases on the sides, there is balcony on top. Maybe it is the same balcony where Mal and Evie announced that they will bring in more villain kids to Auradon. I'm guessing this structure is part of Ben and Mal's castle. It is overlooking onto the sea and leads to the bridge that connects to the Isle. This would be a perfect location to hold a wedding so even those villains who are not officially invited to Auradon can watch it from the bridge or from the Isle.

One of the reasons I am making this structure and not using some random image is because I want to put on a ballroom dance here. Ballroom dancing is one of the more memorable scenes in both the Sleeping Beauty and the Beauty and the Beast, the two worlds where Mal and Ben come from. If we don't put on the dancing scene for this series, then I don't think we will have another reason for a ballroom dance. I want a 3D rotation scene kind of like the dance scene in the Beauty and the Beast. We will figure this out as we go. To make this balcony structure, I want to start with a firm structure as the base, something that can hold all other parts together. I went and got the largest cardboard box that I could find at the hardware store.

It was about the perfect size for the dolls. In this video, we are going to build the front facade. This is physically a huge structure. 11 inch dolls are kind of that weird size where doll houses are possible, but you end up with a huge structure if it is made proportional to the doll. This is going to be proportional to the dolls, so it is going to take up a lot of space. The benefit of creating a large structure is that it's big enough for me to add a lot of details into the building. But the down side is that the tripod isn't tall enough to capture everything on the table while I was making the structure. To start this part of the project, I cut open the front of the box so we can fit the facade into the front hole.

I also cut out the same shape on a foam board. I ripped off the paper covers on the foam board. I created the brick wall using the foam board by pressing brick shapes into the foam. I painted the brick wall gray. Next I outlined the facade with large arch bricks. Again, I made those arch bricks with foamboards. I painted the arch and the arch bricks yellow brown. Next, I made the two pillars beside the arch using card board papers. I made the pillars tall enough that they can become the hand rails for the balcony on top. I painted the pillars light yellow. I glued those pillars onto the brick wall. Here is the castle with the arch facade with Mal and Ben standing in front..
